Terms Used In West Virginia Code > Chapter 17C > Article 13A - Diesel-Powered Motor Vehicle Idling Act

  • Bus: means the same as that term is defined in section thirteen, article one, chapter . See West Virginia Code 17C-13A-1
  • Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
  • Idle reduction technology: means any device or system of devices that is installed on a motor vehicle subject to this article and is designed to provide it those services, such as heat, air conditioning and electricity, that would otherwise require the operation of the main drive engine while the motor vehicle is temporarily parked or remains stationary. See West Virginia Code 17C-13A-1
  • Idling: means operation of the main propulsion engine of a motor vehicle while the vehicle is stationary. See West Virginia Code 17C-13A-1
  • Motor vehicle: means the same as that term is defined in section three, article one of this chapter. See West Virginia Code 17C-13A-1
  • Offense: includes every act or omission for which a fine, forfeiture, or punishment is imposed by law. See West Virginia Code 2-2-10
  • public service commission: means the public service commission of West Virginia. See West Virginia Code 17C-13A-1
  • School bus: means the same as that term is defined in section seven, article one of this chapter. See West Virginia Code 17C-13A-1
  • School grounds: means the same as that term is defined in section fifty-five, article one of this chapter. See West Virginia Code 17C-13A-1
  • State: when applied to a part of the United States and not restricted by the context, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" also include the said district and territories. See West Virginia Code 2-2-10
