Terms Used In Wisconsin Statutes 708.02
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Land: includes lands, tenements and hereditaments and all rights thereto and interests therein. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
- Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
- Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
- Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
- Property: includes real and personal property. See Wisconsin Statutes 990.01
If property subject to lien created by mortgage or land contract is leased after the lien has attached, the lease is subject to termination at the time the interest of the lienor is terminated.
