Residential Leases
Residential leases involve renting residential property and the laws are made up of state statutory and common law. Federal statutory law may help prevent forms of discrimination. The basis of the legal relationship between a landlord and tenant is based in contract law and property law. The tenant has a property interest in the land for a given period of time or for an indefinite period of time. The landlord-tenant agreement is normally embodied in a lease.
