Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 40.21.110

  • person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • property: includes real and personal property. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060

Except for public records lawfully in the possession of a person other than the state, public records of existing or defunct agencies of the state, territorial, and Russian governments in Alaska are the property of the state and shall be created, maintained, preserved, stored, transferred, destroyed or disposed of, and otherwise managed in accordance with the provisions of this chapter and Alaska Stat. § 45.48.50045.48.530. Records shall be delivered by outgoing officials and employees to their successors, and may not be removed, destroyed, or disposed of, except as provided in this chapter and Alaska Stat. § 45.48.50045.48.530.
