  • action: includes any matter or proceeding in a court, civil or criminal. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • archives: means
    (A) the noncurrent records of a state agency or political subdivision of the state preserved, after appraisal, because of their value. See Alaska Statutes 40.21.150
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • department: means the Department of Education and Early Development. See Alaska Statutes 40.21.150
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • property: includes real and personal property. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • record: means any document, paper, book, letter, drawing, map, plat, photo, photographic file, motion picture film, microfilm, microphotograph, exhibit, magnetic or paper tape, punched card, electronic record, or other document of any other material, regardless of physical form or characteristic, developed or received under law or in connection with the transaction of official business and preserved or appropriate for preservation by an agency or a political subdivision, as evidence of the organization, function, policies, decisions, procedures, operations, or other activities of the state or political subdivision or because of the informational value in them.   • records center: means a records depository in the department for the storage and disposition of noncurrent records. See Alaska Statutes 40.21.150
  • state: means the State of Alaska unless applied to the different parts of the United States and in the latter case it includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • state agency: means a department, office, agency, state board, commission, public corporation, or other organizational unit of or created under the executive branch of the state government. See Alaska Statutes 40.21.150
