- Action: includes any matter or proceeding in a court, civil or criminal. See Arizona Laws 1-215
- Health care institution: means every place, institution, building or agency, whether organized for profit or not, that provides facilities with medical services, nursing services, behavioral health services, health screening services, other health-related services, supervisory care services, personal care services or directed care services and includes home health agencies as defined in section 36-151, outdoor behavioral health care programs and hospice service agencies. - Professional standards of practice: means practicing within the scope of licensure. See Arizona Laws 36-450
- Retaliatory action: means termination of or other adverse action against a health professional's employment taken by a health care institution because the professional has made a report pursuant to this article. See Arizona Laws 36-450
