- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
The Chief Financial Officer shall make a report in detail to the Governor, with a copy to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives as soon after the 1st day of July of each year as it is practicable to prepare same of the transactions of the Division of Treasury for the preceding fiscal year, embracing a statement of the receipts and payments on account of each of the several funds of which he or she has the care and custody.
