Any person, firm, corporation, association, agency, institution or other legal entity who, without intent to violate this Code, obtains benefits or payments under this Code to which he or it is not entitled, or in a greater amount than that to which he or it is entitled shall be liable for any excess benefits or payments received.
The Attorney General, or the State‘s Attorney in actions involving a local governmental unit, may initiate court proceedings to recover benefits or payments obtained under this Code to which a person or entity is not entitled.

Terms Used In Illinois Compiled Statutes 305 ILCS 5/12-15
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- State: when applied to different parts of the United States, may be construed to include the District of Columbia and the several territories, and the words "United States" may be construed to include the said district and territories. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.14
