- Adjourn: A motion to adjourn a legislative chamber or a committee, if passed, ends that day's session.
- Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
- General Revenue Law of Illinois: or any equivalent expression, when used with reference to revenue, shall be deemed to refer to the Property Tax Code and all existing and future amendments thereto and modifications thereof, and all rules now or hereafter adopted pursuant thereto. - Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
- police force: shall be construed to include such persons in the employ of a municipality as members of the department of police, who are or shall hereafter be appointed and sworn as policemen. See Illinois Compiled Statutes 5 ILCS 70/1.20
- Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
- Trustee: A person or institution holding and administering property in trust.
