Terms Used In Indiana Code 20-25-5-5
- civil city: means a civil city or a civil town, the area of which, or the major part of the area of which, is under the jurisdiction of a school city. See Indiana Code 20-25-5-5
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.

Sec. 5. As used in this chapter, “civil city” means a civil city or a civil town, the area of which, or the major part of the area of which, is under the jurisdiction of a school city.
