Terms Used In Indiana Code 3-8-1-20
- before the election: refers to a general, municipal, or special election. See Indiana Code 3-8-1-1.7
- Sheriff: means the sheriff of the county or another person authorized to perform sheriff's duties. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
Sec. 20. A candidate for the office of county auditor, recorder, treasurer, sheriff, coroner, or surveyor must have resided in the county for at least one (1) year before the election, as provided in Article 6, § 4 of the Constitution of the State of Indiana.
