Sec. 30. As used in this chapter, “state” means:
(2) the District of Columbia;
(1) a state of the United States;

- United States: includes the District of Columbia and the commonwealths, possessions, states in free association with the United States, and the territories. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
(3) Puerto Rico;
(4) the United States Virgin Islands; or
(5) a territory or insular possession subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.
