- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
Sec. 5. The law of a jurisdiction other than those referred to in section 1 of this chapter shall be an issue for the court, but shall not be subject to sections 1, 2, 3, and 4 of this chapter concerning judicial notice.
