Sec. 11. As used in this chapter, “state institution” means any of the following:
(2) A correctional facility owned by the state and operated by the department of correction.
(1) A state institution (as defined in IC 12-7-2-184).

- department: refers to the state personnel department established by section 13 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 4-15-2.2-6
- state civil service: means public service by individuals who are subject to this chapter. See Indiana Code 4-15-2.2-10
- state institution: means any of the following:

(3) The Indiana School for the Deaf established by IC 20-22-2-1.
(4) The Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired established by IC 20-21-2-1.
(5) The Indiana Veterans’ Home as described in IC 10-17-9.
(6) Any other facility owned and operated by the state whose employees participate in the state civil service.
