- fire department: has the meaning set forth in IC 36-8-17-2. See Indiana Code 36-8-17.5-1
- in writing: include printing, lithographing, or other mode of representing words and letters. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- pre-planning inspection: means an inspection of a Class 1 structure (as defined in IC 22-12-1-4) in a place or public way performed by the fire department to determine firefighting strategies necessary to minimize the hazard to firefighters responding to any fire or explosion at the structure, including:
