1. A covered institution shall do the following:
a. Develop, in consultation with the college student aid commission, a code of conduct governing educational loan activities with which the covered institution’s officers, employees, and agents shall comply.
b. Publish the code of conduct developed in accordance with paragraph “a” prominently on its internet site.
c. Administer and enforce the code of conduct developed in accordance with paragraph “a”.
Terms Used In Iowa Code 261F.2
- Covered institution: includes an authorized agent of the educational institution, including an alumni association, booster club, or other organization directly or indirectly associated with or authorized by the institution or an employee of the institution. See Iowa Code 261F.1
- Educational loan: means any loan that is made, insured, or guaranteed under Tit. See Iowa Code 261F.1
- following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Internet: means the federated international system that is composed of allied electronic communication networks linked by telecommunication channels, that uses standardized protocols, and that facilitates electronic communication services, including but not limited to use of the world wide web; the transmission of electronic mail or messages; the transfer of files and data or other electronic information; and the transmission of voice, image, and video. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Loan: means a deposit of property not accompanied by a transfer of title to the property. See Iowa Code 305B.2
- Student: means a person who enrolls in or seeks to enroll in a course of instruction offered or conducted by a school. See Iowa Code 261B.2
2. The college student aid commission shall provide to covered institutions assistance and guidance relating to the development, administration, and monitoring of a code of conduct governing educational loan activities.
3. Except as provided in this section, the college student aid commission is not subject to the duties, restrictions, prohibitions, and penalties of this chapter.
