As used in this chapter:
1. “Administrative action” means any policy or action taken by an agency or failure to act pursuant to law.
Terms Used In Iowa Code 2C.1
- Agency: means all governmental entities, departments, boards, commissions, councils or institutions, and any officer, employee or member thereof acting or purporting to act in the exercise of official duties, but it does not include:a. See Iowa Code 2C.1
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Employee: means any employee of an agency. See Iowa Code 2C.1
- Officer: means any officer of an agency. See Iowa Code 2C.1
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
2. “Agency” means all governmental entities, departments, boards, commissions, councils or institutions, and any officer, employee or member thereof acting or purporting to act in the exercise of official duties, but it does not include:a. Any court or judge or appurtenant judicial staff.b. The members, committees, or permanent or temporary staffs of the Iowa general assembly.c. The governor of Iowa or the governor’s personal staff.d. Any instrumentality formed pursuant to an interstate compact and answerable to more than one state.3. “Employee” means any employee of an agency.4. “Officer” means any officer of an agency.5. “Person” means an individual, aggregate of individuals, corporation, partnership, or unincorporated association.
