1. Notwithstanding section 321.11, the department, upon request, shall provide personal information that identifies a person by the social security number of the person to the following:

 a. The department of revenue for the purposes of collecting debt and administering the setoff program pursuant to section 421.65.
 b. The judicial branch for the purpose of collecting court debt pursuant to section 602.8107.

Terms Used In Iowa Code 321.11A

  • Department: means the state department of transportation. See Iowa Code 321H.2
  • following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
  • Person: includes any individual, firm, corporation, partnership, joint adventure, or association, and the plural as well as the singular number. See Iowa Code 321H.2
  • Program: means an informal dispute settlement procedure established by a manufacturer which mediates and arbitrates motor vehicle warranty disputes arising in this state. See Iowa Code 322G.2
 2. The social security number obtained by the department of revenue or the judicial branch shall retain its confidentiality and shall only be used for the purposes provided in this section.
