1. A personal delivery device may operate on any of the following:
a. A pedestrian area at a speed not to exceed six miles per hour.
b. A road, provided that the speed limit on the road is forty miles per hour or less, under all of the following conditions:
(1) The device operates as far to the right from the center of the road as is practicable.
(2) The device does not exceed twenty miles per hour, or the speed limit on the road, whichever is lower.

Terms Used In Iowa Code 321O.5
- device: means a device to which all of the following apply:a. See Iowa Code 321O.1
- following: when used by way of reference to a chapter or other part of a statute mean the next preceding or next following chapter or other part. See Iowa Code 4.1
- Operate: means to ride in or on, other than as a passenger, use, or control the operation of an all-terrain vehicle in any manner, whether or not the all-terrain vehicle is moving. See Iowa Code 321I.1
- Operator: means a person who operates or is in actual physical control of an all-terrain vehicle. See Iowa Code 321I.1
- Pedestrian area: means an area intended to be used by any person afoot, including a sidewalk, crosswalk, or safety zone, as those terms are defined in section 321. See Iowa Code 321O.1
- road: include public bridges, and may be held equivalent to the words "county way" "county road" "common road" and "state road". See Iowa Code 4.1
2. The operator of a personal delivery device that violates this section commits a simple misdemeanor punishable as a scheduled violation under section 805.8A, subsection 5.
