Terms Used In Iowa Code 904.315

  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" may include the said district and territories. See Iowa Code 4.1
904.315 Contracts for improvements.
1. The director of the department of administrative services shall, in writing, let all
contracts for authorized improvements under chapter 8A, subchapter III, costing in excess of the competitive bid threshold in § 26.3, or as established in § 314.1B. Upon prior authorization by the director, improvements costing five thousand dollars or less may be made by the superintendent of any institution.
2. A contract is not required for improvements at a state institution where the labor of inmates is to be used if the contract is not for a construction, reconstruction, demolition, or repair project or improvement with an estimated cost in excess of one hundred thousand dollars.
