Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 47-2001
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Council: means the Kansas sheep council. See Kansas Statutes 47-2001
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- Property: includes personal and real property. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
- Purchaser: means any person, public or private corporation, association or partnership who buys sheep or wool from the seller or acts as an agent for the sale or slaughter transaction. See Kansas Statutes 47-2001
- Secretary: means the secretary of agriculture. See Kansas Statutes 47-2001
- Seller: means any private entity or corporation that sells sheep or wool. See Kansas Statutes 47-2001
- Sheep: means an animal of the ovine species, produced, fed, slaughtered or marketed in this state. See Kansas Statutes 47-2001
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
- Wool: means the natural fiber produced by sheep. See Kansas Statutes 47-2001
As used in this act:
(a) “Council” means the Kansas sheep council.
(b) “Purchaser” means any person, public or private corporation, association or partnership who buys sheep or wool from the seller or acts as an agent for the sale or slaughter transaction.
(c) “Producer” means a person who is actively engaged within this state in the business of producing or marketing sheep or wool and who receives income from the production of sheep or wool.
(d) “Sale” or “sold” means a transaction in which the property in or to sheep or wool is transferred from the seller to a purchaser for full or partial consideration.
(e) “Secretary” means the secretary of agriculture.
(f) “Sheep” means an animal of the ovine species, produced, fed, slaughtered or marketed in this state.
(g) “Wool” means the natural fiber produced by sheep.
(h) “Seller” means any private entity or corporation that sells sheep or wool.
