Kansas Statutes 72-244. Definitions
Unless the context otherwise requires, as used in this act:
(a) “State board” means the state board of education created by sections 2 and 3 of article 6 of the constitution and provided for by Kan. Stat. Ann. § 72-245.
Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 72-244
- Commissioner: means the commissioner of education created by section 4 of article 6 of the constitution and provided for by Kan. See Kansas Statutes 72-244
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
- State board: means the state board of education created by sections 2 and 3 of article 6 of the constitution and provided for by Kan. See Kansas Statutes 72-244
- State department: means the state department of education established by Kan. See Kansas Statutes 72-244
(b) “Board member” and “member” mean a member of the state board of education.
(c) “Board member position” means one of the numbered positions used to identify the ten (10) members of the state board of education.
(d) “Commissioner” means the commissioner of education created by section 4 of article 6 of the constitution and provided for by Kan. Stat. Ann. § 72-371.
(e) “State department” means the state department of education established by Kan. Stat. Ann. § 72-408.
(f) “Board member district” or “member district” means one of ten (10) districts from which a board member is elected, as is prescribed in article 6, section 3 (a) of the constitution of Kansas.
