Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 72-256

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • State board: means the state board of education created by sections 2 and 3 of article 6 of the constitution and provided for by Kan. See Kansas Statutes 72-244

The state board is hereby authorized to adopt rules and regulations not in conflict with law on any and all matters within its jurisdiction, except as is otherwise specifically provided by law.
