Kansas Statutes 72-6142. Definitions
As used in this act:
(a) “Board of education” means the board of education of a unified school district or the governing authority of an accredited nonpublic school.

- Accredited nonpublic school: means a nonpublic school participating in the quality performance accreditation system. See Kansas Statutes 72-6131
- Board of education: means the board of education of a unified school district or the governing authority of an accredited nonpublic school. See Kansas Statutes 72-6131
- Public school: means a school operated by a unified school district organized under the laws of this state. See Kansas Statutes 72-6131
- School: means a public school or an accredited nonpublic school. See Kansas Statutes 72-6131
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories. See Kansas Statutes 77-201
- Superintendent of schools: means the superintendent of schools appointed by the board of education of a unified school district or the chief administrative officer of an accredited nonpublic school appointed by the board of education of the school. See Kansas Statutes 72-6142
(b) “School” means a public school or an accredited nonpublic school.
(c) “Public school” means a school operated by a unified school district organized under the laws of this state.
(d) “Accredited nonpublic school” means a nonpublic school participating in the quality performance accreditation system.
(e) “School employee” means any administrative, professional or paraprofessional employee of a school.
(f) “Superintendent of schools” means the superintendent of schools appointed by the board of education of a unified school district or the chief administrative officer of an accredited nonpublic school appointed by the board of education of the school.
