Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (1)(b) of Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 74-4956 and amendments thereto to the contrary, an individual who became a member of the Kansas public employees retirement system on January 1, 1971, and who was purchasing military service credit by means of double deductions under Kan. Stat. Ann. §§ 74-4919h and amendments thereto until such purchasing was terminated on January 1, 1980, due to such member’s transfer of membership to the Kansas police and firemen’s retirement system on that date, shall have all military service which was purchased prior to January 1, 1980, credited as participating service credit under the Kansas police and firemen’s retirement system.
