Terms Used In Kansas Statutes 8-1,108

  • Division: means the division of vehicles of the department of revenue. See Kansas Statutes 8-126
  • Owner: means a person who holds the legal title of a vehicle, or in the event a vehicle is the subject of an agreement for the conditional sale thereof with the right of purchase upon performance of the conditions stated in the agreement and with an immediate right of possession vested in the conditional vendee or in the event a vehicle is subject to a lease of 30 days or more with an immediate right of possession vested in the lessee; or in the event a party having a security interest in a vehicle is entitled to possession, then such conditional vendee or lessee or secured party shall be deemed the owner for the purpose of this act.   • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.

Vehicles acquired by a fleet owner after commencement of a registration year and subsequently added to a fleet registered hereunder, shall be proportionately registered as part of such owner’s fleet by making application to the division of vehicles upon a form and in a manner prescribed by the director, and the payment of fleet registration fees, determined by applying the in-state mileage percentage from the original application filed by the fleet owner for a registration year, to the regular annual registration fees applicable with respect to such additional vehicles for the remainder of such registration year, including any title applications, title fees, and any other fees or penalties prescribed by this act.
