Kentucky Statutes 321.188 – Reporting of animal abuse

If a veterinarian finds that an animal with which the veterinarian has a VCPR has been abused in violation of KRS § 525.125, 525.130, 525.135, or 525.137, the veterinarian may make a report to:
(1) The Office of the State Veterinarian for any animal for which an on-farm livestock or poultry care standard has been promulgated under KRS § 257.196; or
(2) Law enforcement for any other animal.

Terms Used In Kentucky Statutes 321.188
- Animal: means any member of the animal kingdom other than a human, whether living or dead. See Kentucky Statutes 321.181
- Livestock: means bovines, equines, sheep, goats, swine, poultry, captured or cultivated aquatic species, farm-raised cervidae and camelidae, bees, and any other species used in the production of fiber, meat, eggs, honey, milk, and other animal food products. See Kentucky Statutes 321.181
- State: when applied to a part of the United States, includes territories, outlying possessions, and the District of Columbia. See Kentucky Statutes 446.010
- Veterinarian: means an individual who is licensed to engage in the practice of veterinary medicine under this chapter. See Kentucky Statutes 321.181
(2) Law enforcement for any other animal.
