Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:255
- Commissioner: means the commissioner of insurance. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:242
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Health maintenance organization: means any corporation organized as either a business corporation or a nonprofit corporation and domiciled in this state which undertakes to provide or arrange for the provision of basic health care services to enrollees in return for a prepaid charge. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:242
- person: includes a body of persons, whether incorporated or not. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 1:10
The commissioner may, in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act, promulgate such reasonable rules and regulations as are necessary to provide for the licensing of producers. A “producer” means a person licensed as a life and health insurance producer in the state of Louisiana who is appointed or employed by a health maintenance organization to engage in solicitation of membership in such organization. It shall not include a person enrolling members on behalf of an employer, union, or other organization to whom a master group contract has been issued.
