Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:245
- Enrollee: means an individual who is enrolled in a health maintenance organization. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:242
- Provider: means any physician, hospital, or other person, organization, institution, or group of persons licensed or otherwise authorized in this state to furnish health care services. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 22:242
As a requirement for authorization to do business in this state pursuant to La. Rev. Stat. 22:244, all health maintenance organizations shall provide coverage for expenses incurred by any enrollee who is deaf or hard of hearing for services performed by a qualified interpreter/transliterator, other than a family member of the enrollee, when such services are used by the enrollee in connection with medical treatment or diagnostic consultations performed by a healthcare provider.
