An employer and employee who have elected to come under the provisions of this Chapter or who may be subject thereto as provided for in La. Rev. Stat. 23:1034 may, by written agreement between themselves, provide for compensation in event of injury over and above the compensation to be awarded under the provisions hereof. Such additional compensation may be provided for by the employer insuring his liability therefor in any insurance company or association authorized to do business in the State of Louisiana, but the premium therefor must be paid by the employer.
