- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
No ordinance provided for in La. Rev. Stat. 33:2951 and La. Rev. Stat. 33:2952 shall take effect until it has been approved by a majority of the voters on whose property the tax is proposed to be levied, at an election to be held specially for that purpose. The police jury or municipal corporation shall prescribe the manner of holding the election, and shall cause to be furnished to the commissioners a certified list of the authorized voters. The election shall be preceded by a notice for thirty days, published in one or more newspapers in the parish or municipal corporation. If the ordinance is rejected by a majority of the voters, it may be resubmitted for reapproval at any subsequent period, at intervals of not less than six months.
