- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.

A. Any person or governmental entity that filed a petition contesting the proposed incorporation as provided in La. Rev. Stat. 33:4 may appeal a district court order granting the incorporation within the time and in the manner provided by law.
B. Any elector residing in the area proposed for incorporation or any person owning land in the area proposed for incorporation may appeal a district court order denying incorporation of the area within the time and in the manner provided by law.
