Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 39:1410.64

  • Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start. Under the protection of the bankruptcy court, debtors may discharge their debts, perhaps by paying a portion of each debt. Bankruptcy judges preside over these proceedings.

No petition in relation to the readjustment of the debts of any agency of the state of Louisiana included in the provisions of La. Rev. Stat. 39:1410.60 shall be received or filed in the courts of bankruptcy of the United States unless accompanied by the written consent of the commission, and no such plan of readjustment shall be put into temporary effect or finally confirmed without the written approval of the commission of such plans.
