- Services: means the furnishing of labor, time, or effort by a contractor whose primary purpose is to perform an identifiable task rather than to furnish an end item of supply. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 39:1556
Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, regulations promulgated by the commissioner of administration or other purchasing entity governing the purchase of prostheses, orthoses, prosthetic services, or orthotic services shall require that such services shall be purchased only from an accredited facility as provided in La. Rev. Stat. 40:1225.1; however, nothing in this Section shall prohibit a licensed occupational therapist or a licensed physical therapist from practicing within his scope of practice. In addition, the provisions of this Section shall not apply to a licensed optometrist, ophthalmologist, podiatrist, or orthopedist.
