- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Hospital: means any institution, place, building, or agency, public or private, whether for profit or not, with facilities for the diagnosis, treatment, or care of persons who are suffering from illness, injury, infirmity, or deformity or other physical condition for which obstetrical, medical, or surgical services would be available and appropriate and which operates or is affiliated with facilities for the overnight care, observation, or recovery of those persons. - Person: means the state, and any political subdivision or municipal corporation thereof, an individual, firm, partnership, corporation, company, association or joint stock association, or the legal successor thereof. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:2102
Any person establishing, conducting, managing, or operating any hospital without a license under this Part shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars for the first offense and not more than two hundred dollars for each subsequent offense, and each day of a continuing violation after conviction shall be considered a separate offense. The district attorneys of the several parishes shall represent the State in proceedings under this Part in their respective parishes.
