Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:2113.5
- Hospital: means any institution, place, building, or agency, public or private, whether for profit or not, with facilities for the diagnosis, treatment, or care of persons who are suffering from illness, injury, infirmity, or deformity or other physical condition for which obstetrical, medical, or surgical services would be available and appropriate and which operates or is affiliated with facilities for the overnight care, observation, or recovery of those persons. Any general hospital licensed under this Part, which is owned or operated, or both, by a hospital service district, or which benefits from being financed by the sale of bonds from the state or guaranteed by the state that are exempt from taxation as provided by Louisiana law, or which receives any other type of financial assistance from the state, is directed to give, when possible, priority to the treatment of persons who are elderly and persons with physical or mental disabilities in the delivery of nonemergency health care services.
