- Acquittal:
- Judgement that a criminal defendant has not been proved guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
- A verdict of "not guilty."
- Addictive disorder: is a primary, chronic neurobiologic disease with genetic, psychosocial, and environmental factors influencing its development and manifestations. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- administrator: means a person in charge of a treatment facility or his deputy. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Advertisement: includes all representations of fact or opinion disseminated to the public in any manner or by any means. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:700
- Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
- Aftercare: means any assistance provided by a caregiver to a patient pursuant to this Part after the patient's discharge from a hospital. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1226.1
- Allegation: something that someone says happened.
- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Amortization: Paying off a loan by regular installments.
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
- Application: means the documentation and forms submitted by a person, on a form provided by the corporation, requesting issuance of a permit, license, or a proposed contract. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Appointing authority: means any official, officer, board, commission, council or person having the power to make appointments to positions in the municipal, parish or fire protection district fire service. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Appointment: means the designation of a person, by due authority, to become an employee in a position, and his induction into employment in the position. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.
- Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
- average compensation: means his average earnable compensation for the five highest successive years of employment, or the highest five successive joined years where interruption of service occurred. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Behavioral health: is a term used to refer to both mental health and substance use. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Bequest: Property gifted by will.
- Board: means the board of directors of the corporation. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Board: means the municipal, parish, or fire protection district fire and police civil service board. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Board: means the board of directors of the district or any successor thereto. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:3072
- bus: shall mean a motor vehicle with a seating capacity of six or more, exclusive of the operator, which is used in the transportation of passengers for hire, excluding any vehicle leased without the provision of a driver and excluding any vehicle which is subject to regulation by the Interstate Commerce Commission or the Louisiana Public Service Commission; or which is defined in this Section as a limousine or sightseeing or tourist guide vehicle; or which is used by undertakers for the transportation only of persons attending a funeral; or which is engaged exclusively in the transportation of children to and from school and which is operated by or under a contract with a public institution or a public or private school; or which is provided by a passenger's employer for transportation to his place of work; or which provides transportation in consideration of transportation to be furnished on other occasions by a passenger. - Caregiver: means an individual who meets all of the following conditions:
(a) Is eighteen years of age or older. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1226.1
- Casino gaming operations: means any gaming operations offered or conducted at or in the official gaming establishment. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Casino operating contract: means a contract let or bid by the corporation, in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter, authorizing a casino operator to conduct casino gaming operations at the official gaming establishment for the benefit of the state and the casino gaming operator. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- casino operator: means any person who enters into a casino operating contract with the corporation requiring that person to conduct casino gaming operations according to the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Classification plan: means all the classes of positions established for the classified service. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Classified service: means every appointive office and position of trust or employment in the municipal government, parish government, or fire protection district government which has as its primary duty one of the functions specifically set forth to be included in the classified service by the provisions of this Part; and excludes all elective and appointive offices and positions of trust or employment which have a primary duty specifically set forth to be included in the unclassified service by the provisions of this Part. - Clerk of court: An officer appointed by the court to work with the chief judge in overseeing the court's administration, especially to assist in managing the flow of cases through the court and to maintain court records.
- company: means a person, whether natural or juridical, that uses a digital network to connect transportation network company riders to transportation network company drivers who provide prearranged rides, or a person, whether natural or juridical, that provides a technology platform to a transportation network company rider that enables the transportation network company rider to schedule an intrastate prearranged ride. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:2191
- Complaint: A written statement by the plaintiff stating the wrongs allegedly committed by the defendant.
- Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Corporation: means the Louisiana Economic Development and Gaming Corporation, which except as specifically provided in this Chapter shall be a special corporation operated for a public purpose, the ownership interest of which is vested in the state. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Creditable service: means "Prior Service" plus "Membership Service" for which credit is allowable as provided in Part III of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Dangerous to self: means the condition of a person whose behavior, significant threats or inaction supports a reasonable expectation that there is a substantial risk that he will inflict physical or sever emotional harm upon his own person. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Dealer: means any person or entity engaged in the business of selling water treatment devices to the public. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:700
- Demotion: means a change of an employee in the classified service from a position of one class to a position of a lower class which generally involves less responsibility and provides less pay. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Department: means the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:2191
- Department: means the Louisiana Department of Health. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Department: means the Louisiana Department of Health or its successor in the role of designated state agency under Title XIX of the Social Security Act or any successor Act providing funding for medical care for the poor. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1249.2
- Department: means the Louisiana Department of Health and "secretary" means the secretary thereof. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:700
- Department: means the Louisiana Department of Health. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1125.11
- Department service: means employment in the public service offered and performed separately by the fire or police department of the municipality, parish or fire protection district. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Digital network: means any online-enabled application, software, website, or system offered or utilized by a transportation network company that enables the prearrangement of rides with transportation network company drivers. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:2191
- Discharge: means a patient's release from hospital care to the patient's residence following an inpatient admission. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1226.1
- disclosure: means the release of information or data with the consent, as indicated by a signed consent form, of the individual or individuals to whom the information pertains by either the division of unemployment insurance or the housing authority. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:561
- Dismissal: The dropping of a case by the judge without further consideration or hearing. Source:
- District: means the Central Transition District or any successor thereto. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:3072
- Donee: The recipient of a gift.
- Donor: The person who makes a gift.
- driver: means a person who receives connections to potential passengers and related services from a transportation network company in exchange for payment of a fee to the transportation network company, and who uses a personal vehicle to offer or provide a prearranged ride to persons upon connection through a digital network controlled by a transportation network company in return for compensation or payment of a fee. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:2191
- Elderly: means an individual who is sixty-five years of age or older. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1249.2
- Eligible: means a person whose name is on a list. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Employee: means a person legally occupying a position. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Executor: A male person named in a will to carry out the decedent
- Fair market value: The price at which an asset would change hands in a transaction between a willing, informed buyer and a willing, informed seller.
- Fiduciary: A trustee, executor, or administrator.
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- Foreclosure: A legal process in which property that is collateral or security for a loan may be sold to help repay the loan when the loan is in default. Source: OCC
- Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
- Game: means any banking or percentage game located exclusively within an official gaming establishment which is played with cards, dice, or any electronic, electrical, or mechanical device or machine for money, property, or any thing of value. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- gaming activities: means the offering or conducting of any game or gaming device in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Gaming device: means any equipment or mechanical, electromechanical, or electronic contrivance, component, or machine used directly or indirectly in connection with gaming or any game which affects the result of a wager by determining win or loss. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Gaming operator: means a person licensed by the corporation or authorized by contract with the corporation to conduct gaming operations or gaming activities in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Gift: A voluntary transfer or conveyance of property without consideration, or for less than full and adequate consideration based on fair market value.
- Gravely disabled: means the condition of a person who is unable to provide for his own basic physical needs, such as essential food, clothing, medical care, or shelter, as a result of serious mental illness or a substance-related or addictive disorder and is unable to survive safely in freedom or protect himself from serious physical harm or significant psychiatric deterioration. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Gross revenue: means the total of all value received by the casino gaming operator from gaming operations, including cash, checks, vouchers, instruments and anything received in payment for credit extended to a patron for purposes of gaming, and compensation received for conducting any game in which the casino gaming operator is not party to a wager, less the total of all value or amounts paid out as winnings to patrons and credit instruments or checks which are uncollected as determined by rule of the corporation and five million dollars annually directly attributable to promotional play wagers. - Gross trip fare: means the base fare plus any time or distance charges, excluding any additional charges such as airport or venue fees. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:2191
- Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
- Healthcare provider: means a physician as defined in Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1089.2
- Hospital: means a facility licensed under the provisions of Part II of Chapter 11 of this Title. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1226.1
- HUD: means the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:561
- Information: means wage record and unemployment compensation information. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:561
- Injunction: An order of the court prohibiting (or compelling) the performance of a specific act to prevent irreparable damage or injury.
- Intangible property: Property that has no intrinsic value, but is merely the evidence of value such as stock certificates, bonds, and promissory notes.
- Interest rate: The amount paid by a borrower to a lender in exchange for the use of the lender's money for a certain period of time. Interest is paid on loans or on debt instruments, such as notes or bonds, either at regular intervals or as part of a lump sum payment when the issue matures. Source: OCC
- Intrastate prearranged ride: means any prearranged ride, as provided for in this Section, originating within the jurisdiction of the local governmental subdivision. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:2191
- Lease: A contract transferring the use of property or occupancy of land, space, structures, or equipment in consideration of a payment (e.g., rent). Source: OCC
- Legislative session: That part of a chamber's daily session in which it considers legislative business (bills, resolutions, and actions related thereto).
- Liabilities: The aggregate of all debts and other legal obligations of a particular person or legal entity.
- License: means an authorization issued to a person by or in the name of the corporation to engage in or assist gaming operations or activities regulated by this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Lien: A claim against real or personal property in satisfaction of a debt.
- limousine: shall mean a chauffeur-driven luxury vehicle with a minimum seating capacity of six but no more than fourteen passengers, exclusive of the driver, which is used for the transportation of passengers for hire by prearrangement or contract, the charges for which are predetermined on a contractual basis. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:1460
- lists: means a reinstatement employment list, a promotional employment list, a competitive employment list and a re-employment list. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Local governing entity: means an integrated human services delivery system with local accountability and management and which provides behavioral health and developmental disabilities services through local human services districts and authorities. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Local governmental subdivision: as used in this Chapter is as defined in Article VI, Section 44 of thethe Louisiana Constitution of 1974. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:1460
- Local governmental subdivision: means any parish or municipality as defined in Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:2191
- Long-term care services: means the following services provided pursuant to Louisiana's approved Medicaid state plan for medical assistance:
(a) Long-term personal care services. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1249.2
- Louisiana Workforce Commission: means the Louisiana Workforce Commission and its subdivisions, including the office of unemployment insurance administration, or its successor. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:561
- Major procurement: means the purchase or acquisition of any item, product, or service in the amount of one hundred thousand dollars or more. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Maximum benefit: means the retirement benefit a member is entitled to receive from the system set forth in Part IV of this Chapter in any month after giving effect to Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Mayor-president: means the mayor-president of the city of Baton Rouge and parish of East Baton Rouge. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:3072
- Medicaid Buy-In Program: means the Louisiana Medicaid Optional program to provide the opportunity for working persons with disabilities to buy access to needed health care and support services. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1251.4
- Medical psychologist: means a psychologist who has undergone specialized training in clinical psychopharmacology and has passed a national proficiency examination in psychopharmacology approved by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and who holds a current and valid license from the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- member: means a member of the board of directors of the corporation. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Member: means any teacher included in the membership of the system as provided in Part II of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Mental health advocacy service: means a service established by the state of Louisiana for the purpose of providing legal counsel and representation for persons with mental illness or substance-related or addictive disorders and for ensuring that the legal rights of those persons are protected. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Minor child: means an unmarried child under the age of twenty-one years or an unmarried student under the age of twenty-three years who is the issue of a marriage of a member of this system, the legally adopted child of a member of this system, a child born outside of marriage of a female member of this system, or the child of a male member of this system if a court of competent jurisdiction has, pursuant to the provisions of the Civil Code rendered a judgment of filiation declaring the paternity of such member for the child. - Mortgage: The written agreement pledging property to a creditor as collateral for a loan.
- Municipality: means the city of Central in East Baton Rouge Parish. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:3072
- Nolo contendere: No contest-has the same effect as a plea of guilty, as far as the criminal sentence is concerned, but may not be considered as an admission of guilt for any other purpose.
- Oath: A promise to tell the truth.
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- Official gaming establishment: means the building or facility described in Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
- Parish: means East Baton Rouge Parish. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:3072
- Participating housing authority: means a housing authority that has entered into a cooperative agreement with the state Louisiana Workforce Commission. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:561
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- Patient: means an individual who has been admitted to a hospital for inpatient care and who is eighteen years of age or older. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1226.1
- permanent employee: means an employee who has been appointed to a position in the classified service in accordance with this Part after completing his working test period. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Person: means any individual, partnership, association, joint stock association or trust, corporation, or other business entity whether incorporated or not. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Personal property: All property that is not real property.
- Personal vehicle: means a vehicle that is used by a transportation network company driver and is owned, leased, or otherwise authorized for use by the transportation network company driver. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:2191
- Persons with disabilities: means those citizens of Louisiana who meet the Social Security Disability criteria. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1251.4
- Petition: means a written civil complaint filed by a person of legal age alleging that a person has a mental illness or is suffering from a substance-related or addictive disorder and requires judicial commitment to a treatment facility. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Physician: means an individual licensed to practice medicine by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners in active practice or an individual in a post-graduate medical training program of an accredited medical school in Louisiana or a medical officer similarly qualified by the government of the United States while in the state in the performance of his official duties. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Plea: In a criminal case, the defendant's statement pleading "guilty" or "not guilty" in answer to the charges, a declaration made in open court.
- Pleadings: Written statements of the parties in a civil case of their positions. In the federal courts, the principal pleadings are the complaint and the answer.
- police jury: means the parish governing authority unless the context clearly indicates otherwise. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 38:2101
- Position: means any office or employment in the municipal, parish or fire protection district, fire or police service, the duties of which call for services to be rendered by one person. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Prearranged ride: means the provision of transportation by a driver to a rider that commences when a driver accepts a ride requested by a person through a digital network controlled by a transportation network company, continues during the driver transporting a requesting rider, and ends when the last requesting rider departs from the personal vehicle. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:2191
- Precedent: A court decision in an earlier case with facts and law similar to a dispute currently before a court. Precedent will ordinarily govern the decision of a later similar case, unless a party can show that it was wrongly decided or that it differed in some significant way.
- President: means the president of the corporation. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Probable cause: A reasonable ground for belief that the offender violated a specific law.
- Promotion: means a change of an employee in the classified service from a position of one class to a position of a higher class which generally involves increased responsibilities and provides increased pay. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Promotional play wagers: means wagers placed by patrons using noncashable vouchers, promotional chips, coupons, electronic credits, electronic promotions, scrips, or any other cash equivalent that is provided to the patron by the casino gaming operator. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Promotional seniority: means the total cumulative employment in a class of positions of the next lower class from which a promotion is to be made. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner: means an advanced practice registered nurse licensed to practice as a nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing, in accordance with the provisions of Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Psychiatrist: means a physician who has at least three years of formal training or primary experience in the diagnosis and treatment of mental illness. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Psychologist: means an individual licensed to practice psychology in Louisiana in accordance with Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Public recreation facility: means a recreation facility owned or leased by the state of Louisiana or a political subdivision thereof. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1089.2
- Racehorse wagering: means wagers placed on horse racing conducted under the pari-mutuel form of wagering at licensed racing facilities that are accepted by a licensed racehorse wagering operator in accordance with the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Re-employment list: means an employment list for the entrance or lowest ranking class in the classified service, or any group of classes that may be grouped in the classification plan, containing names of regular employees who have been laid off under the "lay off" provisions of this Part. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Real property: Land, and all immovable fixtures erected on, growing on, or affixed to the land.
- Recourse: An arrangement in which a bank retains, in form or in substance, any credit risk directly or indirectly associated with an asset it has sold (in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles) that exceeds a pro rata share of the bank's claim on the asset. If a bank has no claim on an asset it has sold, then the retention of any credit risk is recourse. Source: FDIC
- Registry: means the sickle cell disease registry established by the provisions of this Subpart. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1125.11
- reinstatement list: means an employment list containing names of persons eligible for reinstatement in positions of a class from which they have been demoted for reasons other than disciplinary action. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Residence: means a dwelling that the patient considers to be his home. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1226.1
- Respondent: means a person alleged to have a mental illness or be suffering from a substance-related or addictive disorder and for whom an application for commitment to a treatment facility has been filed. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Retirement: means withdrawal from active service with a retirement allowance granted under the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Retirement allowance: means the sum of the annuity and the pensions or any optional benefit payable in lieu thereof. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- rider: means a person who uses a transportation network company's digital network to connect with a transportation network driver who provides intrastate prearranged rides to the rider in the driver's personal vehicle between points chosen by the rider. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:2191
- Security: means the protection of information that would or could provide an unfair advantage to any individual involved in the operation of the casino gaming; protection and preservation of the integrity of casino gaming games and operations; as well as measures taken to prevent crimes against a gaming operator or the corporation. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 27:205
- Seniority: means the following:
(a) "Departmental seniority" means the total employment computed for an employee beginning with the last date on which he was regularly and permanently appointed and has worked continuously, to and including the date of computation. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:2533
- Service: means service as a teacher within the meaning of Paragraph (33) of this Section. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.
- Settlement: Parties to a lawsuit resolve their difference without having a trial. Settlements often involve the payment of compensation by one party in satisfaction of the other party's claims.
- sightseeing or tourist guide vehicle: shall mean a motor vehicle with an operator for hire and a minimum seating capacity of six and a maximum seating capacity of no more than fourteen persons, exclusive of the driver, which is used in the transportation of passengers for hire to various tourist destinations and other landmarks of interest. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 48:1460
- Spouse: shall mean a person who is legally married to a member of this system and shall not include a person who is legally separated from a member of this system by a judgment of separation, unless such person has voluntarily reconciled with the member and which reconciliation is established by a court of competent jurisdiction. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:701
- State plan for medical assistance: means the plan promulgated by the department in accordance with its role as designated state agency under Title XIX of the Social Security Act or any successor Act providing funding for medical care for the poor. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1249.2
- Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
- street: as used in this Part shall mean any public highway, boulevard, esplanade, square or street, or any part or side of the same, within the limits of any incorporated municipality having a population in excess of fifty thousand inhabitants. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 33:3721
- Subpoena: A command to a witness to appear and give testimony.
- Testify: Answer questions in court.
- Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
- Tort: A civil wrong or breach of a duty to another person, as outlined by law. A very common tort is negligent operation of a motor vehicle that results in property damage and personal injury in an automobile accident.
- Transcript: A written, word-for-word record of what was said, either in a proceeding such as a trial or during some other conversation, as in a transcript of a hearing or oral deposition.
- Treatment: means an active effort to accomplish an improvement in the mental condition or behavior of a patient or to prevent deterioration in his condition or behavior. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 28:2
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
- Trustee: A person or institution holding and administering property in trust.
- Unemployment compensation information: means unemployment compensation claim or payment information from the administrator of the Louisiana Employment Security Law. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:561
- Wage record: means wage record information reported to the state by employers on a quarterly basis as provided in Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:561
- Water treatment device: means any instrument or contrivance sold at retail for residential use and designed to be added to the plumbing system of a water supply intended for human consumption to improve that water supply by any means including, but not limited to, filtration, purification, distillation, or conditioning. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:700
- Writ: A formal written command, issued from the court, requiring the performance of a specific act.
- Youth athletic activity: means an organized athletic activity where the majority of the participants are seven years of age or older and under nineteen years of age, and are engaging in an organized athletic game or competition against another team, club, or entity or in practice or preparation for an organized game or competition against another team, club, or entity. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 40:1089.2
