Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes > Title 46 > Chapter 8 - Maternal and Child Health Services

  • Agency: means any state office, department, board, commission, institution, division, officer or other person, or functional group, heretofore existing or hereafter created, that is authorized to exercise, or that does exercise, any functions of the government of the state in the executive branch, but not any governing body or officer of any local government or subdivision of the state, or any parochial officer who exercises functions coterminous with the municipality in which he performs those functions.   • Assets: (1) The property comprising the estate of a deceased person, or (2) the property in a trust account.
  • Baseline: Projection of the receipts, outlays, and other budget amounts that would ensue in the future without any change in existing policy. Baseline projections are used to gauge the extent to which proposed legislation, if enacted into law, would alter current spending and revenue levels.
  • Beneficiary: A person who is entitled to receive the benefits or proceeds of a will, trust, insurance policy, retirement plan, annuity, or other contract. Source: OCC
  • Board of Trustees: means the board provided to administer the retirement system. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1002
  • Child: means a person under the age of nineteen. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Department: means the Department of Agriculture and Forestry. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 3:1
  • Department: means the Department of Children and Family Services or the Louisiana Department of Health. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:1
  • Department: means the Louisiana Department of Health. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
  • Donor: The person who makes a gift.
  • Employee: means any person legally occupying a position as a school bus driver who actually renders a service by driving a school bus during the full time of his employment, a school janitor, a school custodian, a school maintenance employee, school bus aide, monitor or attendant, or other regular school employee who actually works on a school bus helping with the transportation of school children, and who is a legal employee of a parish or city school board of the state of Louisiana, and shall include the employees of this system.   • Grace period: The number of days you'll have to pay your bill for purchases in full without triggering a finance charge. Source: Federal Reserve
  • Medical assistance: means healthcare benefits provided through the Louisiana Medicaid program or the Louisiana Children's Health Insurance Program, hereafter referred to as LaCHIP. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Member: means any school employee, as defined in Paragraph (13) of this Section, as provided in Part II of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1002
  • Obligation: means an amount which a government may be required legally to meet out of its resources. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 39:2
  • Oversight: Committee review of the activities of a Federal agency or program.
  • Premium assistance: means a component of the Louisiana Children and Youth Health Insurance Program under which the department pays on behalf of an enrollee either part of or the entire premium of employer-sponsored or individual health insurance coverage. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Prior service: means service rendered prior to July 1, 1947, for which credit is allowable under Part III of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1002
  • Program: means the Louisiana Children and Youth Health Insurance Program. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Responsible party: means a parent or person legally responsible for the welfare of a child. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Retirement: means withdrawal from active service with a retirement allowance granted under the provisions of this Chapter. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1002
  • Retirement system: means the Louisiana School Employees Retirement System established and described in Louisiana Revised Statutes 11:1002
  • Secretary: means the secretary of the Department of Children and Family Services or the Louisiana Department of Health. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:1
  • Subsidized insurance: means a component of the program whereby the state provides health insurance coverage to a child at a reduced premium rate to the family. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
