  • Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
  • Child: means a person under the age of nineteen. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Department: means the Louisiana Department of Health. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
  • Grace period: The number of days you'll have to pay your bill for purchases in full without triggering a finance charge. Source: Federal Reserve
  • Medical assistance: means healthcare benefits provided through the Louisiana Medicaid program or the Louisiana Children's Health Insurance Program, hereafter referred to as LaCHIP. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
  • person: includes a body of persons, whether incorporated or not. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 1:10
  • Premium assistance: means a component of the Louisiana Children and Youth Health Insurance Program under which the department pays on behalf of an enrollee either part of or the entire premium of employer-sponsored or individual health insurance coverage. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Program: means the Louisiana Children and Youth Health Insurance Program. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Responsible party: means a parent or person legally responsible for the welfare of a child. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
  • Subsidized insurance: means a component of the program whereby the state provides health insurance coverage to a child at a reduced premium rate to the family. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 46:977.3
