1. Membership. Of the 8 members who shall represent this State:
A. One shall be the current Chancellor of the University of Maine System, ex officio; [PL 1985, c. 779, §53 (AMD).]
B. One shall be the commissioner, ex officio; [PL 1981, c. 693, §§ 5, 8 (NEW).]
C. Four shall be named by the Governor for 2-year terms; [PL 1981, c. 693, §§ 5, 8 (NEW).]
D. One shall be a member of the Senate appointed by the President of the Senate; and [PL 1981, c. 693, §§ 5, 8 (NEW).]
E. One shall be a member of the House of Representatives appointed by the Speaker of the House. [PL 1981, c. 693, §§ 5, 8 (NEW).]

Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 11053

  • Commissioner: means the Commissioner of Education or the commissioner's designee. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
  • Ex officio: Literally, by virtue of one's office.
  • Membership: means active participation in the program of a school from the date of enrollment to the time the student withdraws or is absent from the school for 10 consecutive days for reasons other than illness. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 15001
2. Expenses. All members shall receive their actual expenses incurred in the performance of their official duties.
