Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 3804
- Department: means the Department of Education. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
- education service center: is a political subdivision pursuant to section 3802, subsection 7. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 3801
- School administrative unit: means the state-approved unit of school administration and includes a municipal school unit, school administrative district, community school district, regional school unit or any other municipal or quasi-municipal corporation responsible for operating or constructing public schools, except that it does not include a career and technical education region. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1
An education service center shall adhere to generally accepted accounting principles and shall annually engage an external auditor to do an independent audit of the education service center’s finances. The education service center shall submit the audit to its members and to the department. The audit must be conducted in the same manner as a school administrative unit audit in accordance with chapter 221, subchapter 2. [PL 2019, c. 219, §3 (AMD).]
