Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 3762
- Adult: means a person who has attained the age of 18 years. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
- ASPIRE-TANF: means the ASPIRE-TANF program established in section 3781?A. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 3762
- Child or children: means a person who has not attained the age of 18 years. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Culturally and linguistically appropriate services: means services that are designed to serve culturally diverse populations in their preferred languages; function effectively within the context of cultural beliefs, behaviors and needs presented by TANF and ASPIRE-TANF participants and their communities; contribute to a work environment that supports diversity; promote community engagement; build trust and relationships with TANF and ASPIRE-TANF participants; actively support and enable TANF and ASPIRE-TANF participants to make informed choices; and value and facilitate the exchange of information with TANF and ASPIRE-TANF participants. - Department: means the Department of Health and Human Services. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 1-A
- Dependent: A person dependent for support upon another.
- DRA: means the federal Deficit Reduction Act of 2005, Public Law 109-171, 120 Stat. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 22 Sec. 3762
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Federal poverty level: means the nonfarm income official poverty line for a family of the size involved, as defined by the federal Office of Management and Budget and revised annually in accordance with the United States Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981, Section 673, Subsection 2. - Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- in writing: include printing and other modes of making legible words. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Month: means a calendar month. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
- monthly income: means the total of the TANF monthly benefit and all income countable under the TANF program, plus child support received by the family, excluding the $50 pass-through payment;
