Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 25 Sec. 2927
- Bureau: means the Emergency Services Communication Bureau within the Public Utilities Commission, which is responsible for the statewide implementation and management of E-9-1-1. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 25 Sec. 2921
- Cellular or wireless telecommunications service: means commercial mobile service as defined in 47 United States Code § 332(d). See Maine Revised Statutes Title 25 Sec. 2921
- Department: means the Department of Public Safety. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 25 Sec. 2921
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- Internet protocol enabled services: means services and applications using Internet protocol, including, but not limited to, voice over Internet protocol and other services and applications provided through wireline, cable, wireless and satellite facilities and any other facility that is capable of connecting users to public safety answering points. - Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Month: means a calendar month. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
- Obligation: An order placed, contract awarded, service received, or similar transaction during a given period that will require payments during the same or a future period.
- Prepaid wireless telecommunications service: means a cellular or wireless telecommunications service that allows a caller to dial 9-1-1 to access the E-9-1-1 system, which service must be paid for in advance and is sold in predetermined units or dollars that declines with use in a known amount. - Public safety answering point: means a facility with enhanced 9-1-1 capability, operated on a 24-hour basis, assigned the responsibility of receiving 9-1-1 calls and, as appropriate, directly dispatching emergency services or, through transfer routing or relay routing, passing 9-1-1 calls to public or private safety agencies. - Retail transaction: means the purchase of prepaid wireless telecommunications service from a seller for any purpose other than resale. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 25 Sec. 2921
- Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
