Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 5002

  • Affordable housing: means decent, safe and sanitary dwellings, apartments or other living accommodations for low-income and moderate-income households. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 5002
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Council: means the Statewide Homeless Council. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 5002
  • Homeless: means :

  • Moderate income households: means households in which gross income does not exceed 150% of the median income of the county or metropolitan statistical area in which the household is located. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 5002
  • Person: means an individual, corporation, partnership, firm, organization or other legal entity. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 2001
  • Public law: A public bill or joint resolution that has passed both chambers and been enacted into law. Public laws have general applicability nationwide.
  • residence: refer to an individual's place of domicile. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 2001
  • state authority: means the Maine State Housing Authority. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 30-A Sec. 5002
  • United States: includes territories and the District of Columbia. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • 2. Affordable housing. “Affordable housing” means decent, safe and sanitary dwellings, apartments or other living accommodations for low-income and moderate-income households. The Maine State Housing Authority may define “affordable housing” by rule. Affordable housing includes, but is not limited to:

    B. Housing for low-income and moderate-income families; [PL 1989, c. 601, Pt. B, §4 (NEW).]

    3. Authority or state authority. “Authority” or “state authority” means the Maine State Housing Authority.

    B. A person or family that has a primary nighttime residence that is:

    (1) A supervised publicly or privately operated shelter designed to provide temporary living accommodations, including, but not limited to, welfare hotels, congregate shelters and transitional housing for persons with mental illness or substance use disorder;
    (2) An institution that provides a temporary residence for individuals intended to be institutionalized; or
