Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 31 Sec. 1302
- Bankruptcy: Refers to statutes and judicial proceedings involving persons or businesses that cannot pay their debts and seek the assistance of the court in getting a fresh start. Under the protection of the bankruptcy court, debtors may discharge their debts, perhaps by paying a portion of each debt. Bankruptcy judges preside over these proceedings.
- Certificate of limited partnership: means the certificate required by section 1321. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 31 Sec. 1302
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Deed: The legal instrument used to transfer title in real property from one person to another.
- Distribution: means a transfer of money or other property from a limited partnership to a partner in the partner's capacity as a partner or to a transferee on account of a transferable interest owned by the transferee. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 31 Sec. 1302
- Foreign limited liability limited partnership: means a foreign limited partnership whose general partners have limited liability for the obligations of the foreign limited partnership under a provision similar to section 1354, subsection 3. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 31 Sec. 1302
- Foreign limited partnership: means a partnership formed under the laws of a jurisdiction other than this State and required by those laws to have one or more general partners and one or more limited partners. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 31 Sec. 1302
