The governing body of a primary assessing district shall be an executive committee composed of an equal number of municipal officers from each municipality and 2 nonvoting members. The nonvoting members shall be the chief assessor of a primary assessing area and the State Tax Assessor. It is not necessary that the State Tax Assessor attend all meetings of a primary assessing area and the State Tax Assessor may appoint a substitute to represent him. [PL 1975, c. 545, §14 (AMD).]

The municipal officers of each municipality comprising the primary assessing districts shall elect from their number the municipal officer or officers to serve on the executive committee.

Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 36 Sec. 472

  • Municipal officers: means the mayor and municipal officers or councilors of a city, the members of the select board or councilors of a town and the assessors of a plantation. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Municipality: includes cities, towns and plantations, except that "municipality" does not include plantations in Title 10, chapter 110, subchapter IV; or Title 30?A, Part 2. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
  • Tax: means the total amount required to be paid, withheld and paid over or collected and paid over with respect to estimated or actual tax liability under this Title, any credit or reimbursement allowed or paid pursuant to this Title that is recoverable by the assessor and any amount assessed by the assessor pursuant to this Title, including any interest or penalties provided by law.
