- Affirmed: In the practice of the appellate courts, the decree or order is declared valid and will stand as rendered in the lower court.

Department: means the Department of Education. Month: means a calendar month. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72 Parent: means a parent, guardian or legal guardian. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 1 Plaintiff: The person who files the complaint in a civil lawsuit. Pupil: means elementary or secondary school student. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 15001 Retailer: shall mean and include every person, copartnership, corporation or association engaged in the business of making sales at retail within this State. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 10 Sec. 1202 School administrative unit: means the state-approved unit of school administration and includes a municipal school unit, school administrative district, community school district, regional school unit or any other municipal or quasi-municipal corporation responsible for operating or constructing public schools, except that it does not include a career and technical education region.
