As used in this chapter, unless the context indicates otherwise, the following terms have the following meanings. [PL 1981, c. 693, §§ 5, 8 (NEW).]
1. Unorganized territory. “Unorganized territory” means territory not part of a municipality.

Terms Used In Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 3201
- Municipality: includes cities, towns and plantations, except that "municipality" does not include plantations in Title 10, chapter 110, subchapter IV; or Title 30?A, Part 2. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
- Town: includes cities and plantations, unless otherwise expressed or implied. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 1 Sec. 72
- Unorganized territory: means territory not part of a municipality. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 3201
- Unorganized unit: means an unorganized township, gore, strip, tract, surplus, point, patent, peninsula, island, deorganized town or plantation or any other distinct portion of the unorganized territory. See Maine Revised Statutes Title 20-A Sec. 3201
2. Unorganized unit. “Unorganized unit” means an unorganized township, gore, strip, tract, surplus, point, patent, peninsula, island, deorganized town or plantation or any other distinct portion of the unorganized territory.
