Terms Used In Michigan Laws 257.727b
- citation: means a complaint or notice upon which a police officer shall record an occurrence involving 1 or more vehicle law violations by the person cited. See Michigan Laws 257.727c
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. See Michigan Laws 8.3o
Each police chief, including the state police, and each sheriff shall issue citation books to each police officer of the department whose duties may or will include traffic duty or traffic law enforcement. Each police chief shall obtain a receipt from the officer to whom a citation book has been issued upon a form created by the secretary of state, the attorney general, the state court administrator, and the director of the department of state police.
