As used in this act:
(a) “Local governmental unit” means a school district, intermediate school district, city, village, township, county, authority, or other political subdivision of this state.

- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- state: when applied to the different parts of the United States, shall be construed to extend to and include the District of Columbia and the several territories belonging to the United States; and the words "United States" shall be construed to include the district and territories. (b) “Person” means an individual, corporation, partnership, association, governmental entity, or any other legal entity.
(c) “Personal information” means 1 or more of the following:
(i) Social security number.
(ii) Driver license number.
(iii) State identification number.
(d) “State agency” means a department, board, commission, office, agency, authority, or other unit of state government in the executive, legislative, or judicial branch.
